desperately needed it. Our Cyberknife® machine broke midway
during a patient’s treatment on a Friday evening, causing
the plan to become invalid. Not only did Chad Lee and his
associate help us fix the Cyberknife® itself, they also
created a superior plan over the weekend that encompassed
the partially delivered plan and maintained our dose

The CyberKnife Department at Capital
Health System, Trenton, New Jersey, utilized the services of
CK Solutions on two recent occasions. We needed their
services initially on an emergent basis because our medical
physicist was on vacation. We had no planned physics
coverage and several patients that needed to be treated. CK
Solutions was extremely flexible in arranging for someone
from their company to come on-site and help continue
planning and treating patients. Chad Lee, PhD from CK
Solutions spent two very productive days in our department.
Dr. Lee is a medical physicist with over 1,000 CyberKnife
planning cases under his belt and the experiences he shared
with us in those two days was invaluable. He spent time with
every member of our CyberKnife staff, making constructive
suggestions for streamlining and improving our processes. As
we have come to realize, the learning curve for CyberKnife
is extremely steep and Dr. Lee made processes that we were
struggling with seem so simple. He helped our therapists
with setup and positioning techniques, planned four cases
within 1 ½ days as he provided our physicians and staff with
a great deal of confidence. This short, initial visit was
indeed so productive that we invited Dr. Lee back for one
week to help train other physicists in CyberKnife and to
offer our current CK physicist advanced training. We also
looked to CK Solutions to help improve our operational
efficiencies.
It was during this second visit that we realized that we
wanted to stay in contact with CK Solutions and continue our
relationship with them. As novices in CyberKnife, we felt
this experienced team of medical physicists could offer
support in many arenas. CK Solutions assisted us with
difficult cases and provided concrete suggestions to assist
with patient throughput and flow. We have since contracted
with CK Solutions for physics consulting through remote
planning for the next six months. This will allow our staff
physicists to continue learning while still being able to
treat patients in a reasonable amount of time as we become
busier. We are looking forward to continuing our
relationship with CK Solutions and to utilize their critical
expertise.
